Originally conceived in 1999 as an architectural practice specialising in new home design, Benn Design has rapidly expanded to encompass streams of work in three divisions: Technology, Architecture and Production.

Technology - covering training and implementation, support services, programming and product development, content creation, and human resources (placement and contracting), Benn Design is an acknowledged leader in services to the CAD community in the region and beyond.

Architecture - with a genuinely international staff, and a range of backgrounds from fine arts to urban planning, Benn Design has the skills and the knowledge to service briefs in many forms and at multiple scales.

Production - developing from our leadership in the Revit (CAD software) community, Benn Design has built up systems and infrastructure to carry out production, drafting, and presentation work on behalf of any organisation which lacks the resources, skills or simply the time to carry out such work in-house.
Architecture

The first business unit within Benn Design was initially established to carry out work at the luxury end of the residential market. In the last several years our portfolio has expanded to encompass medium to high-density residential projects, commercial and other design work.

Current and previous commissions have covered a broad spectrum of building types, including:
• High-rise mixed-use buildings
• Medium-density residential developments
• Residential work, both new homes and alterations and additions
• Religious buildings
• Medical facilities
• Joinery and furniture design

All of our projects are tied together by a commitment to the needs and values of our clients, to sustainable design principles, and to tight cost and timeframe controls. At Benn Design the client always comes first.

Production

Benn Design’s profile within the local community has led to the development of an outsource production service, providing external organisations that lack the skills, resources, or simply the time, a facility to complete their commitments in a cost efficient and timely manner.

Documentation clients include several sole practitioners, major retail organisations and some of Australia’s largest project home development companies. Every one of our clients has returned with further projects once we have demonstrated the superior level of service we can provide.

From local government applications for residential projects, to large retail design and fit out projects, we have the ability to handle any needs a client may have.

Technology - Placement

Benn Design now provides services for the recruitment and placing of personnel with Revit training. This service has evolved from our leadership in the fields of training and implementation, from our standing in the Revit user community (Wesley Benn is the founder and chairman of both the Revit User Group, Sydney and the Revit Technology Conference series, the major annual regional Revit-based conference and networking event), and from the understanding of staffing needs driven by our own, Revit-based, architectural practice.

Due to these factors, Benn Design is in a unique position to gain exposure to the maximum number of Revit users. This brings an awareness of staffing resources - of people, their knowledge levels, and their areas of expertise. People need to find jobs, change jobs, have jobs that are flexible and appropriate to their skill level. Benn Design is able to find, negotiate and place the right person in the right position.

Placement

In 2001, Benn Design moved its CAD systems over to Autodesk Revit Building, and has since become the primary Revit implementation specialist in Australia. The principal has a great deal of experience in training and implementation services, regularly speaking to potential users

Technology - Training and Implementation

As a Revit software based firm, Benn Design has established a reputation as the premier Australian source for knowledge and training in building information modelling. Since moving our systems onto Revit, we have established strong links with local distributors and the developers, carrying out training, implementation, and support services throughout Australia, New Zealand and the broader region.

The principal has a great deal of experience in training and implementation services, regularly speaking to potential users, running training courses for both beginning and advanced users, and doing in-house implementation of Revit for small to large architectural and engineering practices. He is also the Chairman of the Australian Revit User Group, which meets monthly in Sydney.
